The physical infrastructure of the campus is based on a co-location model, whereby the University and the Illawarra Institute of Technology share the same campus. The two entities operate separately however share common facilities.
Facilities Available
Facilities available to Moss Vale Education Centre students and staff include:
- Library - in addition to the print and electronic resource available in the library, computers are available for library research. The TAFE Library houses a core collection of University and TAFE study materials in a variety of formats; individual study places; individual study/group rooms and a range of audiovisual equipment that can either be borrowed or used in the Library. Also available for use in the Library is a range of office equipment such as a laminator, binding machine and scanner;
- Computer laboratories - there are computers available for student use during TAFE campus opening times. Access to the computer lab with online contact to the University of Wollongong for course materials, Internet, email, library catalogues and databases.
Campus Services
- Canteen - takeaway food, drinks, coffee, tea and stationary can be purchased from the canteen. A Student Lounge which includes a kitchenette is located down the hallway from the Canteen.
- Ample free parking is available.
Support Facilities
Information technology support - this includes computer and software training.
Audio-visual support - this includes video-conferencing, video players, monitors and overhead projectors. We now also have available a digital camera, digital video camera, mini disk recorder/player, DVD player and cassette recorder for student use!
Counselling Service - The counsellor here at the Moss Vale TAFE Campus is available to University of Wollongong students. Karen Mundell has been employed by the Moss Vale Institute of TAFE for the past eight years. The counsellor is available for student consultations for personal and other problems on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For further details on how to contact Karen, click here.
Learning Development - learning assistance is available for students in various areas relevant to degree studies. Workshops include:
- Time Management
- Reading and Note Making
- Essay Writing
- Structuring Arguments and Critical Thinking
- Exam Preparation and Techniques
Individual consultations are also available.
University Careers Service - the University Careers Service offers advice and guidance to students regarding their future employment options and study strategies.
