Thinking About Teaching after your degree?
Or like to have it as an option?
Students completing a degree can apply to enrol in a one-year Graduate Diploma in Education at UOW to qualify as a Teacher in Australian and Overseas Schools, in either Primary or Secondary Schools.
Students who complete the Bachelor of Arts (Community, Culture & Environment) degree, together with completion of the Grad Dip in Education, will be eligible to teach either in Primary schools, or High Schools (History/English or HSIE area, depending on subject choices. Completion of either the Bachelor of Commerce or BBA may also allow students to teach in the HSIE area again depending on subject choices.

If you are thinking about Teaching you need to plan your subjects to ensure you are eligible to enrol in a Graduate Diploma in Education (GDE) after you finish your Bachelor Degree.
Step 1. Check out the all the requirements for Primary or Secondary Teaching. Visit the comprehensive website at the Faculty of Education click here
2. Study the Key Learning Areas at Moss Vale for planning what subjects to do. You may also study subjects at Wollongong.
Step 3. Complete an Unofficial Subject Pattern to check that you are on the “right track”. See GDE Application Guide - link
Step 4. When you’re in your Third Year of your Bachelor studies, you must send an official Application for Formal Assessment to confirm your eligibility for a Graduate Diploma in Education prior to applying. See GDE Application Guide – link.
The application deadline for this Assessment is 30th June.
